sunny days and hide aways

hm, feeling drowsy and willing to waste my life away in this chair, eating caramel popcorn and drinking tea.

[this is one of my favourite poems]
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night -Dylan Thomas
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

how to: avoid flu fast and fashionably

dearest blog readers
winter has now fully descended upon us and
my need to not get sick has led to my first how-to post :)
How to: aviod flu fast and fashionably
[taken from the book,How to Walk in high heels]

Stay away from people with flu.Avoid sneezing, coughing and sniffing friends.
Keep your hands clean, and keep them away from your eyes, nose and mouth
to avoid spreading any germs you may have accidentally made contact with.
Drink lots of water and eat plenty of healthy food. However much you crave
chocolate cake throw some fruit into the mix.
Aim to drink 2 litres of water and eat five pieces of fruit or vegetables a day.
If you are worried that you are coming down with something increase you vitamin intake.
Do as your mother always wanted: eat your greens, join a gym and excercise.

to all you Capetonian bloggers, keep warm today and read or hide under the duvet*

lovely stories #2

These are the kind of girls who hang dream catchers above their beds, who eat pomegranates and read old history books for fun. These are the kind of girls who take pictures of their hands with disposable cameras and wallpaper their bathrooms with pretty roses.

These girls sketch eyes and mouths and little drawings all over things, they look you right in the eye and almost through you when you speak to them.

These girls camp out in their backyards for fun, they light candles everywhere, and if you visit them at home they usually have all sorts of animals. Their wardrobes are filled with silk robes and bows and hats, they drink tall glasses of milk and snack on chocolate while they watch the sun rise.

These are the kind of girls who ride bikes through the city to the cinema that plays old movies in the middle of the day. They watch "Breakfast at Tiffanys" or "Rosemarys baby." These are the kind of girls who are quiet in public.

[i found these 2 beautiful quotes on shower gel bottles. honestly, i would buy the shower gel just for the quotes]

The mint amused her... its sweet scent tickled her nose, taking her thoughts to garden where lilac hens in sparkling wellingtons picnicked in the moonlight.

"Angel" said the wise man, "is my guardian of the fluffiest lemony cake. Frosted soft pink marshmallow and sometimes made of snow with a serving of smooth creamy vanilla. Goodness and purity are her best friends and as she spreads her fairy wings, Strawberries and Candy fall from the sky."

hope the rest of your day is sparkling*

the principal of it all

ohmygosh, i didnt even know people like this still existed. Im coming to find you, you dashing gentleman you.

". . . it is a principle of his that no man who was not a true gentleman at heart, ever was, since the world began, a true gentleman in manner. He says, no varnish can hide the grain of the wood; and that the more varnish you put on, the more the grain will express itself."- Charles Dickens (Great Expectations)

post number 2

My sister is home. this is fantastic news and once again i feel complete.

and now its time for that insanely needed sleep

a sunny day in the middle of winter

"If you will take me for your wife, Walter, I will love you dearly. If you will let me go with you, Walter, I will go to the world's end without fear. I can give up nothing for you - I have nothing to resign, and no one to forsake; but all my love and life shall be devoted to you, and with my last breath I will breathe your name to God if I have sense and memory left."- Charles Dickens (Dombey and son)

"You might, from your appearance, be the wife of Lucifer. Nevertheless, you shall not get the better of me. I am an Englishwoman."- Charles Dickens (A Tale of Two Cities)

ah weddings are the best :)especially when you have awesome photographers like this.
im in such a wedding-sy place at the moment, which has most likely been caused by watching letters to juliet too many times. the wedding in the movie is just so perfect, and Italy... gosh. in the real world... england is through to the next round of the world cup and so is germany and thats really all that matters*
ciao

200th post

on saturday my parents bought 2 bottles of lemonade concentrate, and so lemonade is more plentiful than water in my house . [its 2 days until my sister gets home] at the moment ilove:wearing my sisters beautiful watch, pesto with pasta, the girl with the dragon tattoo, wearing my shirt tucked into my jeans and my kiwi flavoured shampoo.

Romeo (to a Servingman): What lady is that which doth enrich the hand
Of yonder knight?

Servingman: I know not, sir.

Romeo: Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night

Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear,
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.

So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows
As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.

The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand,
And, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight!
For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.
