don't you ask me if its love my dear

[a new obsession]

Talk all the talk with a poet's style
Tongue like electric, eyes like a child
Buy all your wives and the classic cars
Live like a savior, live like the stars

Talk all the talk with a model's smile
Tongue like electric, eyes like a child
Buy all your highs and the classic cars
Die on the front page, just like the stars

The big screens, the plastic-made dreams
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it
It's our world, the picture-book girls
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it
Don't you ask me if it's love my dear
Love don't really mean a thing round here
The fake scenes the plastic-made dreams
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it

Pace all the rooms with a jealous style
Tongue like electric, eyes like a child
Paint all your soul with the grand designs
Reach like a savior, your heart on the line

The big screens, the plastic-made dreams
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it
It's our world, the picture-book girls
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it

Don't you ask me if it's love my dear
Love don't really mean a thing round here
The fake scenes the plastic-made dreams
Say you don't want it, say you don't want it

[goodnight all]

afternoon tea

Under certain circumstances there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea. There are circumstances in which, whether you partake of the tea or not--some people of course never do,--the situation is in itself delightful. Those that I have in mind in beginning to unfold this simple history offered an admirable setting to an innocent pastime. The implements of the little feast had been disposed upon the lawn of an old English country-house, in what I should call the perfect middle of a splendid summer afternoon. Part of the afternoon had waned, but much of it was left, and what was left was of the finest and rarest quality. Real dusk would not arrive for many hours; but the flood of summer light had begun to ebb, the air had grown mellow, the shadows were long upon the smooth, dense turf.
today I started reading Henry James's the portrait of a lady and I am inlove with it already. It is the perfect weather for reading.

and to P, you are awesome

I am so sorry I didnt say happy birthday to you so here it is.
Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday to P* Happeeeeeeeeeee Birthday to youuuuuu

death

thursday! Today I had a ministry training conference all day and our speakers were amazing because well, they just were and they were all from england* yay england.so i thought that amongst my favourite pictures from this past week id put some "death" quotes up, its just important to think about it :)

Oh, may I join the choir invisible
Of those immortal dead who live again.
~George Eliot, The Choir Invisible

For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. ~William Penn

And they die an equal death - the idler and the man of mighty deeds. ~Homer, Iliad

There's nothing certain in a man's life except this: That he must lose it. ~Aeschylus, Agamemnon

The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity. ~Seneca

how to bake vanilla biscuits

saturday mornings [when they are like this morning] are the most beautiful mornings in the week* today is the most perfect summer day, so perfect infact that i have no idea what to do with it.

one thing i have made up my mind to do today is to bake. just normal vanilla biscuits. i dont think its healthy to be as excited as i am about baking biscuits.

and this is my recipe:
1 egg
2 tsp milk
125g butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup plain flour
1 1/2 cups self raising flour

Vanilla Biscuits Method:
In a bowl sift the plain flour and set aside. In another bowl sift the self raising flour and salt. Cream butter and add sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy. Then add the well beaten egg, vanilla and milk. Add sifted dry ingredients except the plain flour then gradually work in the plain flour until dough is firm enough to handle. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour. Roll out dough to 3mm thickness on lightly floured board and cut with floured 5cm biscuit cutter. Put the Vanilla Biscuits on lightly greased oven trays and sprinkle with sugar or hundreds and thousands. Bake the Vanilla Biscuits in moderate oven for 10 minutes.

lastnight i dreamt about Turkey. and its amazing hot, spicy air and the people and well just everything. I feel upset when i think that im not there, right now. however today is a sort-of turkish day and you should enjoy it while it lasts*

our hearts always hunger for

happy thursday people! one more day 'till the weekend :) and -how exciting is this- tomorrow the movie "the girl with the dragon tattoo" comes out. yay. For the past 2 days i have just had lectures on Islam. It has been the most amazing, thought-provoking experience. today was especially lovely because we had the yummiest lunch ever. and we sang this song- which is now my new favourite song

Wonderful, merciful Savior
Precious Redeemer and friend
Who would have thought that a lamb could
Rescue the souls of men
Oh, You rescue the souls of men

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost the way
Oh, we hopelessly lost the way

You are the one that we praise
You are the one we adore
You give the healing and grace
Our hearts always hunger for
Oh, our hearts always hunger for

Almighty, infinite Father
Faithfully loving Your own
Here in our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne
Oh, we're falling before Your throne

have a smashing rest-of-your-thursday*
