the big pink

Happy spring! Happy monday! the weather is glorious in capetown today, which is probably why my "work" day has morphed into a lie-in-the-sun-and-read-day.

Tomorrow is baking day. I am really excited. It's been way too long since my house was graced with the presence of cupcakes. [the following cupcakes are for P&N. you are lovely]I woke up to Florence&the machine- how perfect? It makes everything feel more like spring.

It's been a difficult weekend. tough and sad.[G, come home soon. so I can remind you how lucky I am to have you]

As soon as I love her it's been too long
Talks of future with you caves me in
Swallow my sugar kiss and eat it alone
Hearts get light and smash any dreams of love

Three words we shared said too early on
Stuck with forever float upon a tear
Swimming with the fear where we slowly drown
Ending at never arching melody

As soon as I love her it's been too long
And I really loved breaking your heart
These silver apples will shine on I was wrong
The hottest love has the coldest end

And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the Daffodils

As much a I try to convince myself that it's getting warmer, the weather seems to be working hard to oppose my happy thoughts. [Happily though, monday is almost over! and it's less than 3weeks until September holidays] [I haven't done this in a long time] happy cupcake monday! The cupcakes below are pumpkin cupcakes. ah! How I wish they were in my tummy right now. Yesterday G & i were reading poetry and when i read this to him i'd forgotten how much i loved it. [it reminds me of summer]

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way, They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

a whole bunch of catch-up

Hi. its monday. and I'm back. Back from Durban. Exciting times. the 3weeks there were filled with; Indian cuisine [too much curry], tears, new cultures, boredom, walking barefoot through the streets, incense, cheap clothes, sadness, being ridiculously sick, brickbreaker [to pass the time], long phone calls, hindu temples, saris, hospitality, corenza c & grippon, wishing the hours away, beautiful sunsets & nervousness.

[a wishlist]

Then came the next 10-meet-the-family-and-friends-days which can only be described as nerve-wracking. It was also surprisingly lovely, filled with new faces, millions of names, wooden passages & fat cats, tea in the mornings, amazing weather, new places, old faces, strange accents, antibiotics, arguments, the beach, laughter, annoyance, happiness[...]

[happy cupcake monday]

[...] warm welcomes, introductions, kisses, sleeping, good movies & average movies, finding important things, shopping, icecream with marshmallows in it (ah! yes! i know)puppies & kittens, peanutbutter and syrup toast, bee juice, The Durban July, winning, late night suppers, the best sunday, sunshine & my alice dress, music, markets on the beach, a pink dress, meeting terrifying people, toasted sandwiches, caramel coated icecream, important night time talks, whose line is it anyway?, the future, sushi (heckyes i had sushi),

new books, subway for lunch, you made me breakfast, ccu, important people, steers burgers& green juice, goodbyes, tears, back rubs, notes, avo on tost, surprise notes, iloveyous, and jelly babies.

it was an amazing 3weeks. and I cant wait to go back [come quickly october]

beautiful things

[one of] the best feelings in the world: finishing an exam & leaving & feeling like you can breathe again (even if you have an exam the next day)

when I've finished an exam I "celebrate" even if that just involves,as it did today, sleeping. I slept for a solid amount of time, waking up [in my mini-coma] to shove handfuls of sour cream&chives flavoured popcorn into my mouth and then retreating back into my bed.it was a good afternoon.
[the most amazing cupcake]

in other news, the most shocking thing happened to me today. sad really- for years i have been so upstanding about the type of shoes that i wear but today that all ended. today i wore ugg boots-infact im wearing them now. I feel like i'm letting a lot of people down but i can't bring myself to take them off [and they match my brown wool dress so nicely]maybe ill get a pair and secretly wear them around the house.

cake cake and toto

Happy day-after-mothers-day! we went all out this year spending obscene amounts of money on a candle and glasses and then breakfast in bed, made by yours truly and the boyfriend.
[I found this bunny and have decided to name him toto. Toto the bunny.]

cupcake monday :) yesterday G's parents had tea at our place, this caused panic baking and the best lemon pie i have ever tasted to be made [all im really thinking about now is how fast i can finish it before the rest of the family gets home]

[is being distracted by star wars cakes on http://pinterest.com/]

i hope you have a beautiful monday.
[she contemplates sleeping but can't hear her contemplation because of the tile cutting next door.] i hate house building.

a yellow lemon tree

Happy monday. [gosh this picture is wonderfully hypnotizing] If i look at it for too long an intense craving for macaroons comes over me.

The wrath of winter is almost upon us. Thunder, lightning, days of rain, cold toes, red noses and sore throats. But luckily winter also means hotchocolate to warm cold hands, blankets to hide under and watch the rain, pretty scarves to wrap around cold faces and kisses to make you feel happier when you look like rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

its cupcake monday too. [but] the only baking that happened today was that of buttermilk rusks- which are pretty important for tea. Im sorry for the lack of real cupcakes today but according to captainjacksparrow drawings of things are better than the things themselves.

I am in comfort-food eating mode. [puts on excited face] which is why im going out to dinner with G now.

this song, is all i sing in my head when it rains:
I'm sitting here in the boring room
It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I'm hanging around
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder
I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

Because i haven't posted in forever i have a crazy amount of cupcake-pictures saved in my files. cupcakes for peter

[happy tuesday] the best thing about public holidays is that they make the rest of the week go so much faster. [and i just want to get to saturday morning]

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4 13-18

Peter. my most dedicated cupcake monday reader. and cupcake making friend. Germany is lucky to have your skills. but i will indeed miss them. [smiles]

(sings) "tomorrow, tomorrow, i love you tomorrow" [im rather looking forward to it as ill be watching cabaret with the boyfriend.]

kiss with a fist

[writes this while sitting up in bed drinking tea]

one of the good things about being sick is suddenly having all this extra time added to your life. today i am abusing this gift by, not wallowing in self pity, but working. [lets get real, who works when they're sick?]mom is out to conversational french lessons and this feeling of being alone in the house makes me want to do something reckless. like eat all the nutella. or dance around in my underwear.
happy cupcake monday for yesterday.

[more tea is needed] imcraving- hello pandas, rasberries, sleep, more florence&the machine, anything with mint in it, a bath in lavender bubbles, sunshine, seeing you.

[how great is this picture?]

light a way

cooler mornings, late sunrises, re-uniting with my winter clothes. iloveautumn.

I was up super early this morning to stand in the cold in my sleeping shorts and cheer for 2hours, for the people riding the capeargus today. yes i am a dedicated friend.
[flapjacks for breakfast]

[playing in my head right now]
The morning's here and we're still caught up in the night.
The sky was clear
And everything felt right
Our time is short but
I'm sure I'll see you soon.
We'll take another walk along the bridge and underneath the moon
.
thisweek a man joined my gym. he looks something between a hamster and a leprechaun. I have decided to call him fluffy. [you should see fluffy on the bike. insane i tell you.]

this was last sundays lunch/tea/indulgence. it looks harmless but really, i ate a third of it and then started dribbling chocolate. so i stopped.

[onemonth roses. you are lovely thankyou]

What a find, if I could I'd hit rewind
And replay all the moments
That I wished I could've called you mine.

saturday my 9yearold sister had her birthday party [party food. yesplease] and my mom made such amazing cupcakes. but then, the children destroyed them by licking all the icing off and leaving the cake. what the heck?
[a destroyed cupcake]

it was painful to watch. the moral of the story is teach your children to respect cupcakes and eat them properly. goodness.
have a happy sunday x
