just a thought

during my lovely long sleep yesterday, i had the pleasure of waking up to this song being played [by my 8 year old sister] at full vloume... the joy. anyway this got me thinking about all the press about Miley growing up too fast bla bla, and gosh yes maybe she is but id like to see what she does after this finding-herself stint.i know, im being remarkably deep for the middle of the week*

Don't keep me waiting, anticipating
Treating me like a fool
I got news for you, I'm turning my back
I'm dropping a bomb on you
You want me, you need me
Believe me, you'll be callin'
You love me, you hate me
Believe me, you'll come crawlin'

[how cute is this photo?]
So get down, and get it off
Let me show you what you'll be missing
We break up, you break down
Gonna drag you through this kicking and screaming
Don't keep me guessing, I'm your favorite obsession
Don't get me that lame excuse
Is it me that you're missing? It's that same old confession
You're the one with something to lose

Watch out now, so glad now
There's no doubt, you can't have it
Control you, I'll own you
I'll show you, but you still can't have it
So get down, and get it off
I'ma show you what you'll be missing
We break up, you break down
Gonna drag you through this kicking and screaming

You'll be kicking and screaming
You'll be kicking and screaming
I'm so deceiving
You'll be kicking and screaming
[im not too sure i like the lyrics though]

wednesday musings

In trying to find a useful topic for todays blog post, i searched google. I didnt find one, i did however find out how to: make my own bomb, grow weed, become anorexic, make the perfect steak, concieve twins etc. The internet has become our source of all knowledge and im not too sure if this is a good thing. BUT todays post is about something more important than the knowledge of humankind. Its especially important on a day like today, when its rainy and cold and you wish the world would disappear and leave you alone with your bed...

How to: Brew the perfect cup of tea

•Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water. In hard water areas it is best to filter the water first.
•Boil the kettle.
•Add one heaped spoon of loose tea or one tea bag per person to the teapot. Making the tea directly in the mug saved time but can lead to an inferior quality of beverage.
•Pour the boiling water into the teapot. If it is not a thermal insulated teapot then remember to place a tea cosy over the pot to ensure that the heat is kept in while the tea is brewing.
•Allow to brew for between 3 and 5 minutes. The longer the tea is left to brew, the stronger it will be.
•Pour the tea into a cup.
•Add milk and sugar as desired and stir thoroughly.
•Sit back and enjoy the warmining drink of tea. A cup of tea is particularly good on a cold winter evening while watching a murder mystery show on the television
[youve gotta love it]

and as i leave you this is my last piece of advice:

its just another monday

goodevening dear blog readers
i havent forgotten is cupcake monday [how good does this cupcake look?]

however, most importantly today i started reading a book [to give my brain a break after vanity fair] called the Shoe Queen. yes indeed it does seem like the book was written for me. It is essentially about one womans quest for the perfect pair of shoes, and its set in Paris which makes it even more beautiful and decadent than before. ah. lovely

Today I also...
listened to: mozart
bought: 2010 soccer gear at half price
ate: a spur burger with that yummy white sauce
loved: sleeping in late
college tomorrow. fan.tastic.

night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"

[i just watched glee and this is my new favourite song*]

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Say nighty-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longin’ to linger till dawn dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars shining up above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Yes, dream a little dream of me

Paarl is awesome

how to: make rose petal jam

Rose Petal Jam
1/2 pound pink or red edible rose petals
2 cups granulated sugar, divided
4 1/2 cups water
Juice of 2 freshly-squeezed lemons (approximately 1/2 cup)
[The tastiest roses are usually the most fragrant.]

Clip and discard bitter white bases from the rose petals; rinse petals thoroughly and drain.

Place rose petals in a bowl and sprinkle enough sugar to coat each petal. Let set overnight.

In a saucepan over low heat, place remaining sugar, water, and lemon juice; stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in rose petals and let simmer 20 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil; continue boiling for approximately 5 minutes until mixture thickens and the temperature on a candy thermometer reaches 221 degrees F. or until a spoonful dropped onto a cold plate jells and holds its shape. Remove from heat.

After boiling, transfer the jam into hot sterilized jars. Fill them to within 1/4-inch of the top. Wipe any spilled jam off the top, seat the lid, and tighten the ring around them. Cover, label, and store in a cool place.

so i lied about the last post being the last post-
i found this recipe and couldnt resist blogging it.
Rose petal jam. Have you heard anything more romantic in your whole life?
i have decided that i shall be making this,
as soon as i get home and have found enough roses*
ciao
