saturday morning post

A quick saturday post before I go out to the market [yayay!] If any of you are thinking of having children dont let them invite their friends over for sleepovers when they're old enough to have them. And if you do let them sleep over dont give them sugar, at all. And if you do give them sugar don't give them cellphones with which they can prank call their oldest sister at 2am. just a thought. These lyrics have been playing over and over in my head for the past week [im sure ive posted them before];

When the sun found the moon
She was drinking tea in a garden
Under the green umbrella trees
In the middle of summer

When the moon found the sun
He looked like he was barely hanging on
But her eyes saved his life
In the middle of summer

lunchtime posting

heck, its 2pm and I havent figured out what to eat for lunch yet... can you even call it lunch when you don't eat it at midday? Incase you're in the same predicament this might help:

12. Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first. [http://www.marcandangel.com/]

Happy saturday! its a wonderful day here but I've spent most of the day inside doing productive things like watching True Grit and eating food. Its going to be a lovely evening so the family and I are heading down to the beach for the sunset and fish&chips.

how to bake vanilla biscuits

saturday mornings [when they are like this morning] are the most beautiful mornings in the week* today is the most perfect summer day, so perfect infact that i have no idea what to do with it.

one thing i have made up my mind to do today is to bake. just normal vanilla biscuits. i dont think its healthy to be as excited as i am about baking biscuits.

and this is my recipe:
1 egg
2 tsp milk
125g butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup plain flour
1 1/2 cups self raising flour

Vanilla Biscuits Method:
In a bowl sift the plain flour and set aside. In another bowl sift the self raising flour and salt. Cream butter and add sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy. Then add the well beaten egg, vanilla and milk. Add sifted dry ingredients except the plain flour then gradually work in the plain flour until dough is firm enough to handle. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour. Roll out dough to 3mm thickness on lightly floured board and cut with floured 5cm biscuit cutter. Put the Vanilla Biscuits on lightly greased oven trays and sprinkle with sugar or hundreds and thousands. Bake the Vanilla Biscuits in moderate oven for 10 minutes.

lastnight i dreamt about Turkey. and its amazing hot, spicy air and the people and well just everything. I feel upset when i think that im not there, right now. however today is a sort-of turkish day and you should enjoy it while it lasts*

ilovesaturdays

Ilove bacon and flapjacks on saturday mornings. [the books are, The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy and The Queens foold by Phillipa Gregory]

"If the witch understood the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the Deep Magic differently, for when a willing victim who has committed no treachery, dies in a traitor’s stead, the stone table will crack and even death itself will turn backwards." - Aslan (The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe)
